Have you ever picked up a book to read? Well now that is a silly question. Honestly who hasn't read a book? LOL! I recently picked up Forgetting Tabitha and after reading the book description thought it sounded like a good book. It is an orphan train story. Starts out real interesting, gets intense, gets good them BAM! I realized I had read this book before. I marked it as read and am looking for a different book. This book is a good read just doesn't qualify for a second full read. 😉

An Expierance at Walgreens
A few weeks back I went to Walgreens. I don't shop there a lot, but occasionally will go there, because it's late (they close at 10pm, everything else in town 9pm), and because it's close (2 blocks away). I don't look at the weekly ads for them very often either unless I'm looking for a specific item and want a good price on it.
The item I went to purchase was an occasional item. On the shelf was a tag that stated that there was a digital coupon available for $5 off the item. SO....as I stood there I downloaded the app on my phone and held my breath as I tried to log in. (yes for real, that's how often I use it.) I successfully logged in and "clipped" the digital coupon. I proceeded to the check out only to have the worst experience ever. For whatever reason when I put in my customer number thing in (you know it's your phone number if you don't have their little member card) it didn't deduct the coupon. I pointed that out to the cashier and showed them the "clipped" coupon on my phone. They tried to scan it but it wouldn't scan (which happens often). Then they said it wasn't valid. I argued with them that I had just "clipped it". They proceeded to call the manager/shift person whatever they were for assistance. At that point I went and picked up a sale ad, thinking maybe there was a coupon in it, but there wasn't. At that point the manager person was there and argued with me that I had to clip them 24 hours in advance. I proceeded to state any other store who had "digital coupons" I could clip in store and use immediately. all they would say, over and over is "I'm sorry ma'am there is nothing we can do." I finally, with an attitude, paid FULL PRICE for the item which took my entire $10 I had brought, because I needed it then and no other business was open that I could purchase it at. I was ticked big time. I come home hollering and griping. Hubby told me to send corporate an e-mail. What good would it do? So I did. I e-mailed corporate. The next day the local store manager called me and apologized about the incident. They told me it was a coupon in their monthly booklet, and no I didn't have to "clip" the coupon 24 hours in advance. They said that the employees I dealt with were in the wrong and that they would get a talking to. The manager also told me if I wanted to bring my receipt into the store they would reimburse me the difference. Well....I had already thrown away the receipt, so I wasn't able to collect my coupon price. Walgreens Corporate also e-mailed me and gave me like 5000 bonus points and apologized for the problem. I told hubby I wasn't shopping at Walgreens anymore. That's been a few weeks back and I have only gone in there once because we were looking for something specific, later at night again, that they didn't have.
I'm glad they apologized and offered to fix the problem. It irritates me though how I was treated by a member of management. I will probably go back some day, but for now I will shop at the dollar stores. They are cheaper anyway.

More Yarn...Sprinkles and a Clock
Yes I bought yarn, but it was to finish a project. Last night we took a drive and went out of town to Hobby Lobby. I got more of the rainbow cotton yarn I needed to finish the Tunisian Ripple Scarf I have started.
We also got some small bottles of outdoor paint to paint to paint the sprinkles on the big outside ice cream cone for the castle. We repainted it since it was faded and looked dirty on top. I think it looks pretty cool!
We also bought this cool clock! I'm looking forward to seeing how many kids/adults have trouble or can't read it in this "digital world" we now live in. Regular numbers would be a plus, but being these aren't regular numbers.....I'm glad they aren't just lines, those kinds of clocks (without numbers) still throw me off.

A Little Tunisian Crochet --- A WIP
I am almost to the half way mark on this shawl. When I was attempting to knit it, it took me 4 or so months to get this far. I also completely lost misplaced the bag the [knitted] project was in a few times. I have done this Tunisian one in a few weeks, in between all the extra busy work and being too hot to do anything, and so far haven't misplaced it. The more I crochet on it the more I like it. It's a combination of 2 different Tunisian crochet stitches and it works up really fast. Just 1 more row.....just 1 more row.....It's hard to stop. LOL! I am making this for a Christmas gift. The person might get it before Christmas though, as it gets cool, then cold long before Christmas time. It's going to be hard to give this away. The farther I get on it the more I really like it. Guess I will just have to make one for myself.

Oh for those who asked from my post yesterday....here's a sneak peek at the Tunisian Starlight Scarf. I'm way past this point now. However, if I do decide to frog it and start over, I'll be here again. ;-) The camera didn't do a good job at taking a good picture, I don't think anyway. But you get the basic idea.
Note on this, not only do I think it's missing a stitch from a miswritten pattern, I also think going up a hook size would make it even better. More fluffier in texture instead of stiff. I will have to play around with it when get back to it......after the shawl is finished or when I need a change in project for a few days.

Rainy Monday Morning.....Just Rambling
Good Morning everyone! Man I wish I had a latte this morning. Soon....soon....I will be able to do that. Last night I worked on rewashing dishes and containers, and utensils that have been in storage. Hubby put up a shelf over the sink, having to drill in to nearly 100 year old brick, for the containers and whatever else we put above the sink. Probably mostly containers and utensils. I had to clean up the brick dust when he was finished. The kitchen is slowly coming together. Going to have to browse Pinterest for small space kitchen storage. We have a very small space and lots of equipment and stuff we have to have in there. I'm excited! Soon as I get things organized a bit better I'll have to show you a picture or maybe even a little video tour.
We finally got an AC for upstairs! I don't know if it was just me trying too hard to keep the cool in or maybe it was just too hot upstairs. We slept fairly comfortable but it was still a but warm at 8am this morning. We installed it around 7pm last night. Estimating the temperature upstairs was near 100* because our heat index was 107*. The max temperature on AC is 95* and my thermometer I have, which may or may not be accurate because it's old, was saying 98* about 10pm. There isn't much if any insulation in the old building, just 2 foot thick brick walls and high ceilings. Anyway by this morning the temperature thing on the AC was reading 85* and the unit wasn't near as hot as it was last night. Maybe there is hope after all. It was raining in, so I turned it off and shut the window. Yes, rain this morning. It's nice to be cool for once. We are supposed to have rain the first part of the week. I'm ok with that if it makes it cooler too.
What have you been reading lately? I read, but not as much as I have in the past. Used to I would read and read and read and finish a book in a day or two. Lately it's been a month or so for a book. Right now I'm reading "All My Love, Detrick," by Roberta Kagan (affiliate link). Most of the time I read during lunch time. Sometimes I read other times, but not often. This is quite the interesting story. Sadly I am seeing parallels from the store to what our society has become in the USA. I have also been [still] trying to make it a habit to listen to the Bible at night before (and usually after) I go to sleep. I have 2 ways to do that. I have the Bible.is app, which is FREE to download, but requires wifi or data on a mobile device to listen. Unless you want to download each individual chapter of each book. I used to do that, but now I also have the Faith Comes by Hearing KJV Dramatized version of the OT and NT (affiliate links) which are also FREE to download, that I can also listen to. I usually don't remember hearing much past the first few words, but I'm hoping it's sinking in when I'm snoozing.
I still haven't vlogged like I think I want to. Maybe I'm not supposed to. I always have little scenario's going through my head, but it's always too dark or I'm in an awkward place to "talk to myself" (as others may think I am doing) or there is too much noise or interference happening. Same goes for blogging....computer time is off and on as I share with hubby at work and youngest son at home. I could do it via my phone, but it's not the same and a bit more difficult to do on a mobile device. Plus from my phone, I could just take a video or video shots and upload them, but I can't do all the cool editing that I would like to do. We have movie making software that is fun to use (I'm learning) but it also takes several hours to edit and create a video. That's OK, I can just stick with watching other's YouTube videos for now. Might be better. One of my favorites is Rolling Earth-Ship. It's a daily vlog for a full time van dweller.
I need to get a list going of things I want to buy at the grocery store. Now that I have more electric power, and my kitchen is nearly complete I can start really cooking. Simple meals for now though. Still have too much to do. We were also given some fresh corn. I need to get that shucked and in the freezer.
The starlight scarf.....I think the pattern may be miswritten. At the beginning of the shell stitch row it says to chain 1 then skip a stitch and make the shell. At the end or the row it says nothing about chain 1 after the last shell and the skipped stitch before the final stitch. Not that I have it about half way done I can see a curve to it.....curving to the end of the row. It's not hard to do and works up pretty quickly. Yah I think I will do that. Lately though I have been working on the treasure shawl. Oh my word I like it! It's going to be hard to give it up. I may just have to make one for me after I'm finished with this one.
Well I best get busy. I've been sitting here for an hour (and I'm at work) switching between watching vlogs and writing this up. I have incense to put out that I soaked and dried over the weekend, and I need to try and do a bit of tidying up. I've been lazy with it being so hot and things are getting piled up. Until next time.......

The Electric is Finished and My Latest Crochet
So ya it's been a while again. No I haven't made any vlogs for YouTube. I just can't do it. But we have been busy, busy, busy. We finished painting almost all of the outside of our building. We still have the outside and inside of the door and the north side (faces the alley) that we totally forgot about. LOL! We estimate we have 3 more weeks to finalize everything. The electrician finished his job yesterday at 4:00 pm. He had worked n it since Monday morning. We went from a piddley 60 amps (I think it was) to 400 amps (I think). No more tripping breakers and there is plenty of room to expand in the future. Today I have been busy cleaning equipment and putting it where we *think* we want it in the new kitchen. The espresso machine is calling my name. I'm sure you can hear it too. LOL! I haven't had one of our latte's since last fall. There still is some coffee left so I hope to make a few over the next several days, even it it's 100+ degrees outside! We're getting new coffee anyway. What we have has been sitting around for over a year.
I've had a little time to crochet, and had a few cooler spots to do it in. I've been doing tunisian. I made a tunisian bump stitch infinity scarf. I have enough of this yarn left over I'm considering crocheting a slouchy hat to go with it.
I was knitting a poncho with this yarn, but I found a tunisian pattern I liked more. I am making a tunisian treasure shawl. It is a combination of tunisian simple and tunisian purl stitches. So far I'm liking it!
So what about you. have you been busy too? I'm hoping it won't be long until I can announce that we are serving our amazing sandwiches and out of this world ice cream dishes. ;-)

Been Busy Again
Part of the reasons I think vlogging would be easier. I can easily record something and then upload it while I'm doing something else. Anyway we have been pushing hard to get things finished so we can sell our yummy sandwiches and desserts again.
