The weather in my neck of the woods:

Little cooler in the evenings, which is nice.  Looks like the 4th may be a little wet if we actually get the rain.  It may get hear earlier in the week too.

Windows and Water

Just my luck at the laundromat the other night.  The washer quit working at the end of the wash cycle.  Good thing I always take extra quarters.  Glad there was a machine right next to this one that was available too.  Also the AC was NOT working at all!  It was hotter in there than it was outside.  We stopped by tonight to wash some blankets. The lady who runs it was there and had closed it down early.....the AC still isn't working.

A Bit of Catching Up

It's been a busy week this week.  Sunday I went to the Laundromat and washed towels. Here is my drying area upstairs.  It looks green because there is green fiberglass roof stuff (I don't' know what it is, it's like the tin roof on a barn) over the windows.  These windows are in pretty good shape, so someday we will take it off.  In the mean time though we will leave it there to protect the windows from damage.

Sunday evening we also put up a couple shelves in the temporary kitchen area so I can actually cook things without taking forever, because stuff is strung out all over.  Now more centrally located, and organized, and I can easily see what I have to work with.

Sunday night I mixed up a batch of pepperoni pizza bread in the bread machine, and put it in the fridge, because I didn't have time to bake it.  It was late and I was tired.  SO, Monday I baked it.  Didn't burn it this time.

Tuesday for supper I grilled the slices and we put pepperoni and mozzarella cheese slices in the middle, and dipped them in pizza sauce.  MMMmmmm was it delicious!

Monday night we had a spectacular sunset.  This is looking from our Upstairs room.

We played with fuzzy and the camera.  She is fascinated with shadows.  We had one of our phones on to create the light, and I took the picture without a flash.  She wasn't cooperating very well, she kept looking around at all the shadows we were creating.  LOL!

I've made 2 of these pot holders, and working on #3.  They really are quick and easy to make.  The ones I'm making right now are for me to use.  I will be making some to sell next.

Here is my afghan progress....The middle square is a Corner 2 Corner, and I am putting a Granny border around it.  I looks pretty neat.

Thanks for stopping by!

Weather and More Rambling

Yes, that's us this weekend, there inside the dotted blue line.  Rain, rain, and more rain.  BUT it does mean cooler temps and that is always welcome!  We have rain and storms in the forecast through Friday, so all week long.  We had some pretty good storms yesterday, and even a tornado about 5 or so miles south of us.  It did some damage, but nothing major I don't think.

See where those arrows are pointing?  That used to be a sunlight.  It leaked, so the previous owner took it out and just roofed over it when he replaced the roof a few years ago.  We have a good solid roof that doesn't leak at all.  Anyway back to the arrows.  I have told hubby that I want to put a porch swing there.  Yes....in the hallway upstairs.  That's about half way down the front half of the hallway.  The hall is wide enough for one, and it would be like my front porch or something. Who knows if we will do it or not, but I can dream, right?  Besides I do like to swing.  My momma used to sing this to me when I was little, and we would swing on our porch swing.

I've made a little more progress on the afghan I'm making for my sister.  I'm about a quarter of the way.  I will be working on it more tonight since it's Crochet Club night, or Yarn Therapy as we like to call it.  Sometimes we just sit and talk, sometimes we work on projects, sometimes we learn new things from others.  It's a small but wonderful group of ladies I have the privilege or hanging out with me most Saturday evenings.

Thanks for stopping by!  Soon I will be sharing my review on a grocery app that I have on my phone and use every time I go to the store (which can also be used on the computer) I  LOVE it!  It's one I just might consider paying for the PRO version someday.  I refuse to pay for apps because the free versions usually work pretty good and the paid upgrades aren't always necessary for my simple thinking.

P.S. and yes I'm posting this early today, and from a computer.  Usually I compose and back date my posts while I'm trying to get to sleep at night (which is usually past midnight)

The Gym

Well we did it, took the plunge. Tonight we got a family membership to The Gym. Its about 3 blocks away. Looking forward to working out in the air conditioning. They also have showers. No more awkward moments at my oldest sons house.

Still trying to keep the upstairs cooler on hot days.  We have had s couple this past week. I asked my Facebook friends and got some good suggestions. #1 I put the blackout curtains on the inside and the curtains window side. They are red/white checkered so a light color which actually helps repel the heat from the sun. That seemed to help a little, but not enough. Suggestion #2 was Styrofoam insulation. We have some! Hubby does foam crafting and had some extra I could use. It is 2 inches thick and doesn't cover a whole window. It must cover enough though. Tonight it was much cooler. I put the foam between the curtain and the blackout curtain.

We have rain on the way. Supposed to rain for the next 7 or so days. Hoping that coolscools things off more.

Finally!

SQUEE!  This corner makes me happy! Its far from finished but I have my own fridge and a sink with running water.  I don't have to try and juggle our food to hide it behind sodas, and now I can buy more at once and make less trips to the store. The sink currently drains into a bucket to be taken outside to empty.  Its better than the itty bitty sink I have been trying to wash dishes in.

Last night we went to pick up this reach in cooler for our sodas

I walked to the laundromat again tonight. Surprisingly I was the only one there tonight. Someone was leaving as I got there. Didn't wash blankets but personal clothes tonight. I moved the drying rack back farther, awsy from our roomd upstairs. Want to keep the humidity as far away as possible. It's already hot enough with no AC.

I'm still working on how to keep the heat out.  can't use foil or anything reflective since we are downtown. Don't want to blind anyone.   If you have any suggestions leave me a comment. I already have blackout curtains and close the window in the morning and open it when the sun is behind the building across the street. The windows face west.

Fuzzy and the Red Dot

OK so today was another busy day. I did get about a quarter of the way along on the afghan I'm making for my sister. Busy at the shop too.

This evening we went and picked up a reach in cooler for our sodas at the Castle. Excited because now I have a fridge agsin and people can see what drinks we have.

This evening I also went to the laundry mat again. Washed a couple more blankets. Have several more to wash. I discovered that the laundromat is a quarter mile walk, so half a mile total. I can walk one way in 5 minutes.

I also entertained Fuzzy with a little red dot. Enjoy!  The ratteling you hear is from the bed frame.

Crafty Stuff

I seen this water bottle idea on my Facebook timeline. Super simple. I got a few bottles from the trash and got to work.   I made a multi color one and a purple one.
Not too bad. Super simple for a kids craft.

Today I got this bag of yarn, from a rummage sale, for $3.  All the skeins appear to be unnsed. Good deal if you ask me, the pink one, I think its that eyelash stuff, had a retail price sticker on it for almost $5.

And here is where I am sitting. Yes......at the laundrymat. I came to wash more blankets. Its about time for them to close for today so I guess I'll stick my clean blankets in my granny cart and walk back home and hang them on my drying rack.

Thanks for stopping by🌈 . Don't forget to leave a comment and let me know you were here.

Can They See?

Call me paranoid but I am concerned whether or not the people across the street can see in.  Directly across (the left) is offices and 99% of the time there isn't anyone occupying them at night. The building to the right there are apartments. We know the person who lives in the corner one and their curtains are closed 99% of the time.  Mine are too unless it's a cloudy cool day and at night to cool our rooms off.

We never have lights on the only lights we would have are from our mobile devices.

I need to research more on primitive living skills I guess. Cooling right now is my main project.  Do you have any ideas or website for me? Leave a comment and let me know.

A Little Light

So I bought some solar sidewalk lights to set on the stairs at night. I got these at the Dollar Tree for $1 each.  Makes going up the stairs much easier too.  I set them on the stairs with the solar side down and put one at the stair just before the middle landing, one half way up the second set and one on the stair just before the top. I was using all 4 but one of the star n stripe lights needs a new battery or some adjusting.  The silver ones are better than the stars n stripes ones.  They are sturdier and brighter.

I got a bunch of blankets out of storage. They are nasty moldy smelling. Last night I took 4 and walked to the laundry mat.  Of these 4, two have been added to windows upstairs to help block/keep out the summer sun.  You see, we don't have air conditioning, just a single fan for 2 rooms to share.

One of the blankets went here. There are also blackout curtains under the checker curtains. I'm considering a heavier blanket after I get more washed.  The other blanket I put up was in the other room in the window I wasn't able to get blackout curtains for. I do want to add another heavy blanket or two in the other room as well after they are washed.

Guess that means another trip to the laundry mat real soon because our temps are supposed to be in the upper 80's and lower 90's for the next 10 days or more.  After all it IS summer time, what should I expect, right?

Thanks for stopping by, come back soon
