Crochet Catch Up

We finally got all that stuff cleaned out of the upstairs of our new building.  Hubby estimates he has recycled 2 ton of metal and stuff, and we had 2 ton of stuff hauled off this past week, and an estimated 1 ton more we could out in the regular trash, so 5 ton of stuff removed.  The building is probably relieved!  I'm glad it's cleaned out.  Still lots of work to do upstairs, but now we have cleaner rooms that we can store things in.

I have done a little crochet in between working, working and working.  I also looked back and I haven't shared any project pictures for almost a month.   Here goes:

Little girl's purse

Slouchy Hat

Slouchy Hat

dice bag or change bag

70's hair ties (I had lots of these growing up)

Flower garland
(I am giving this as a baby shower gift)

I am getting ready to start another slouchy hat.....only I'm using a different pattern for this one.  Here is the yarn I will be using:

Back to work!  The weather has turned cold again, so I have the urge to hook more.

I know, I've been MIA

Ya I know I haven't posted in over a week, but there has been no time.  If you knew what all has been going on you'd shake your head and wonder what in the world we are thinking.  LOL!  We've been working, between both businesses and the building 16 hours a day most days.  We have changed our hours a little so we aren't spread so thin, but we've still been working.

We bought a building back in November to move Cosmic Castle into (read all about it HERE and keep up on the progress) and we are working hard to get the upstairs cleaned out.  It was so messy with fallen plaster and just trash and much more that it was hard to walk through at first.  WE have recycled a lot of stuff, and thrown a lot of stuff out.  We are down to the things we can't (or aren't supposed to) put in a regular dumpster, so we rented a roll-off.   I had to call the city and get special permission to have it "parked" on the street for a week (hopefully less).  We've tossed out toilets and broken furniture and bunches of carpet......and lots of plaster.  Last night I swept and shoveled and hubby took buckets down to put in the dumpster.  This isn't a very good picture, since there is no electric upstairs and we are doing everything by flashlight, but look at this floor!

Absolutely AMAZING!  Thankfully it has been preserved under plaster and trash.  Most of the floor upstairs looks good.  The goal is to put the things we want to keep/recycle in the room we cleaned out last night, and clean a few more rooms to store the seasonal things for The Castle, THEN make room for us to live upstairs.  Probably gonna be pretty primitive at first.  I'm always up for an adventure though.

SO now you know what I've been doing in my absence, and if I don't blog for a while, rest assured I'll be back, but I'm probably busy moving and cleaning.

I do have a couple of crochet projects I have finished that I need to share about.  One is a little girl's purse and the other is hair ties.  I'm currently working on cute little flowers to make into a spring crochet garland.

HHM 1/12/15

I usually start writing my HHM post on Sunday.  Sometimes earlier in the week before, especially if there is something I want to remember to post.

Today's Breakfast Menu:::
Was lunch.  I had a bacon egg cheese sandwich and tots from Sonic
.

The weather this week:::
The weekend is looking GREAT!  Supposed to be in the 50' by Thursday.

Currently Watching:::
Switched at Birth premiered this past week, so I watched it a day later online.  I was going to watch it live stream, but that didn't work out.  Oh well.  I still got to watch it.

If you watch videos I post, I highly recommend using google chrome with the AdBlock extension.  It eliminates 99.9% of the pop-ups.

Current scent:::
I've been burning some old stuff.  Some still has a scent, some has a mixed scent and some.....smell like 4th of July punks.  LOL!  These are ones I removed when I restocked everything right before Christmas.

WIP:::
I did finish the Crochet Challenge hat.  Friday evening a group of ladies met at the Castle and we knitted and crocheted.  We had a great time.  I learned to knit a mitered square.  I finished one and have another one in progress.

Looking around the house:::

It needs a little work as usual.  I need to get upstairs in the new building and do some looking so I can think and plan how I want to remodel part of it for a living area.

Tonight's to do list:::
Tonight we worked at the new building.  More cleaning upstairs.

Recipe I recently tried:::
This week I want to make some homemade Beef  and Noodle Soup.  Gonna be looking for a recipe that sounds good.

I like to:::
work side by side with my husband

Today I'm wearing:::
sweat pants, my pink tennis shoes, a black t-shirt and a warm fuzzy red sweater.

I Hat a Great Time

Friday night a group of ladies, all of whom I know, but didn't know each other until last night, got together to knit and crochet.  I crochet, and kinda knit.  One of the ladies does AMAZING crochet. One Does AMAZING knit and can also do excellent crochet.  One was a beginner at crochet, and one was a beginner at knit but a little more advanced in crochet.

Anyway, we got together to make squares.  We were going to send them off to come charity organization, but decided to make them into lapghans ourselves and donate them to the local crisis pregnancy center and the homeless shelter.

The AMAZING crochet lady showed the beginner and the AMAZING knit lady how to crochet new stitches they weren't familiar with.  The AMAZING knit lady showed me and another lady how to knit a mitered square.  I've kinda mastered the basic knit stitch but get lost and confused.  LOL!

Here is my first knit mitered square.  It was made with Cream and Red cotton yarn (which was a new thing to me I've never used it before).

I have another one started.  Going for the same pattern as this one.  Don't ask me if I knitted or purled, I have no clue.  LOL!  I think I am going to try some knit projects.

We are meeting again this Friday, and it sounds like we may have  a few new people coming.

I think I started something with my "Create & Sell" goal for 2015, and sharing the pictures with my Facebook friends.

Crochet Challenge Hat Complete

Most definitely a challenge for me, but I did it!  It took me 5 tries.  I finally ended up watching the video tutorial step by step and stopping it after each step to complete the current row.  I don't expect to win first place.  Just the satisfaction that I DID IT is enough for me.  The 2 kitty cats are for the two kitty cats we lost last year.  Yellow = Gwen and Black = Reecie.  I used leftover yarn to make it, thus why it's so colorful. :-)  I thought I was going to use the light blue, but after a few re-starts I decided not to.  Here's my Challenge post if you want to go look and maybe challenge yourself.  It goes all month.

HHM 1/5/2015

Happy 1st Monday of 2015!   HHM is one of the highlights of my week.  Good thing it's on Monday to give me something to look forward to.  I do appreciate Sandra hosting it every week.

Today's Breakfast Menu:::
I'm having a cup of coffee with hazelnut creamer.

The weather this week:::
I don't want to talk about it.  The cold winter temperatures have decided to stay this week

Listening to:::
some 80's playlist hubby turned on this morning

Currently Watching:::
I haven't watched as much lately.  The first of the year has been quite busy.  PTL!

If you watch videos I post, I highly recommend using google chrome with the AdBlock extension.  It eliminates 99.9% of the pop-ups.

Current scent:::
haven't warmed/burned anything today.  I have been burning Black Blossom at home though.

WIP:::
I have finished several slouchy hats.  I am currently working on the January challenge from The Crochet Crowd.  Woo it's a tough one for me.  I am SO glad there is a video tutorial.  I finally resorted to watching it step by step and stopping it after each row.  I've almost finished it, just a few more rows to go.  Don't think I will make another one just yet.  I do plan on finishing this today.

Looking around the house:::

It needs a little work, but with being busy this past week it hasn't had much of a chance to get dirty.  LOL!  Have a bit of a mess to clean up.  somehow a squirrel got in and hubby had to get rid of it.

Tonight's to do list:::
Not sure what we are going to do.

Recipe I recently tried:::
Haven't made anything new lately, but I seen this recipe come through Facebook for Sweet Potatoes with Maple-Horseradish Butter  and want to give it a try.  What do you think?  Yum?  Yuck?

I like to:::

Be warm and cozy.  Hard to do sometimes when winter temps decide to visit.

Today I'm wearing:::
my hot pink tennies, jeans that need repaired, a black cosmic castle t-shirt and my blue kitty cat jacket.

From the camera:::

Yum?  Vanilla ice cream with peanut butter and nestle crunch.

January Crochet Challenge

In the past month or so I found The Crochet Crowd on Facebook (link is to their web page).  They have a Crochet Challenge for January and I am participating.   This will be my first ever challenge with them.  WOW!  It is a challenge for me.  The stitch is nothing new, but it's a new concept of using the stitch.    Want to join in too? it's not too late, just follow the links and instructions on how to participate.

Here is the yarn I will be using.  Will have to see what kind if buttons I can find.  One of my facebook friends said she had some buttons I could look through, so I might just do that too.  Can't wait to get started.
