Working on the Crumble Scarf 🧣

 Hey friends what’s up? I have been working on the knit scarf that I mentioned last weekend.  It’s been hit and miss on my gumption to do anything though. Monday and Tuesday I wasn’t able to do much as I was watching my grand baby.  🥰. Wednesday I did quite a bit on it and today, Thursday, I didn’t touch it at all. I was too busy watching YT videos and Twitch streams. 

It’s a free pattern from Smells Like Yarn. It’s called the Crumble Scarf.  It took me about 4 times of starting and frogging it before I got it. It’s a pretty simple 4 row repeat once I got the hang of it. I think the patterning of the colors is interesting  I can’t wait to see how the finished scarf looks……whenever that may be. 😂

I have been using my clips (that I bought at the Dollar Tree) to mark what row I am on. It’s been working out pretty good. I also use my clips to hold my knitting needles together when I put the project in my bag. 

Not sure I will get to work on this this weekend. It’s a thinking project for me, that I don’t want to be interrupted mid row on.  

I may just work on the knit washcloth (or I may make it a baby bib, not sure yet) or the cool dice bag I started awhile back.  I’ll keep you updated.

Inside and Outside Addi Hats

 Good morning friends. I just wanted to hop in this morning and share a couple more Addi hats I made yesterday.  

Last night I had a hat on the machine waiting on me to finish it and Wowzers 🤩 this yarn was definitely made for knitting ‼️. It looks so amazing I actually want to keep it for myself, but it will go in the donation bucket. I think if I love it so much I want to keep it that there’s a preschooler that will love it just as much. ❤️. Here’s the amazing hat. 

Don’t you agree it looks amazing? It is a bit thicker yarn that a regular size 4 yarn but it worked up just fine on addi. Bring a heavier yarn and being double thick it will be perfect for someone like me whose ears are sensitive to toe blowing wind. 

This morning I snuck into the craft room bright and early and whipped up another hat. I used size 3 yarn scraps this time. Addi preformed perfectly for the most part. There was a few slipped stitches but nothing dropped.  Here’s both sides of this morning’s hat. 

I used 5 different scrap balls on this one. I think it turned out pretty cute as well. 

If my calculations are correct, this puts me at 86 of 100 hats for preschool.  This is the first year I have been this close this early in the year. I’m glad my Mom is still making some hats that are useable. Had she made all of them useable I would be well over my 100.  The unusable hats I have been frogging and reworking them.

I have had a rough weekend with my yarn projects. My first issue is with my Addi.  I have a hat on the machine.  It was going so well, or so I thought.  I pulled the hat to make sure things were all ok and lo and behold there was  peg that had missed a stitch.  😭  I put a stitch marker in the last loop that was knitted (it’s down about 6-8 rows) and told my Addi it was in time out until further  notice.  I plan to rewatch videos now to fix those issues and give it my best try next week.  I haven’t been successful in fixing those problems correctly in the past, however I’ve kinda sorta fixed them in the past.

My next yarn issue is with a crochet mini backpack I made.  Yes I made it but I sure can’t sell it.  I guess it’s because I was trying to hurry and wasn’t paying attention to where I was attaching the flap and straps, but it’s super wonky.  

No worries, it has a home. My sister loves it, so I will be giving it to her.  I’m glad she loves my misfit yarn creations. ❤️

So what did I do for something to work on this weekend so I’m not tempted to pointlessly scroll on my phone?  I grabbed my knitting needles, some cotton yarn, and printed off a scarf pattern that I am using the neon yarn that i msde the backpack with, and I started a washcloth with the cotton yarn.  Washcloth for times I don’t have time to really concentrate and scarf when I do have time to concentrate.  

I Wanted a No Think Project for the Weekend

 

I finished the baby bib I was working on. It's a free pattern on Ravelry if you want to check it out.  It is an easy pattern.  You just need to know how to knit and the yarn over increase and how to decrease by knitting 2 together.

Today (Friday) I had planned to work on this knit hat. I am real close to starting the decrease for the crown of the hat.  I have about an inch to go, however I didn't feel like concentrating on knitting with needles, SO.....

I started this loom knit hat.  It will be a scrap hat.  I am making it a double thick loom hat, like a knitting machine hat (like an addi).  I shared about doing this a little over a year ago.  This time I am doing 100 rows instead of the 90 I did before. 😀

This is a total no-think project for me.  I only need to remember to add a row on my row counter each round.  If I forget one, or two, it wont make that big of a deal.  

Tried a new knit thing and I'm not happy with the results

Remember this knit Ross Hat from a couple posts ago? Well I finished it.

I think it turned out pretty cool!  However since I was doing a 4 melon,1 white,1 melon,1 white, row repeat I decided to try to make a seamless jog when I switched between the melon and white colors.  I watched a couple different YouTube videos and tried both methods, but don't really like how mine turned out.  I also started snipping and tieing the white in between the 4 rows of melon but eventually just carried the white up.  That wasn't as bad, but it too needs more practice.

Here is the section of the hat I tried the 2 different seamless jogs.  they are to the left in the circle.  While they do look seamless, I don't like the way it looks.  I think I need to re-watch the videos again or maybe even find another one, if possible and try the seamless jogs again.

I do have another knit hat in progress, only 2 rows in so far.  It will also be a 2 color hat.  I haven't decided how I will be striping it or if I will do something completely different with the 2 colors this time.  

I was thinking maybe trying to make hearts, but the "V's" look to me like they are going the wrong way for that. Am I seeing them wrong?  I'm thinking I would need to make a double thick hat or make one top down instead of bottom up. (top down may be fun to try, I may try to check that possibility out too.)

What's On My Needles Now?

 Well....I mentioned it was a hat.....that I was knitting flat.  But why flat? Well the yarn I am using is a bulky weight yarn.  a size 5.  I am using a size US9 or 5.5mm which is recommended on the ball band.  I casted on 72 using the crochet cast on method.  Hopefully that is gonna be big enough.  It appears it should be.  Oh yah, WHY Flat?  Well because I don't have any DPNs for that size of needle.  I figure it will give me a chance to learn a new knitting skill.....seaming up a project.  Nothing fancy on this one.  I made about a 1.5 inch ribbed brim and am just knitting every row.  Guess that's called garter stitch.  I am looking forward to finishing it.

Finished Knit Pinwheel Washcloth and Apology

 I finished the Knit Pinwheel Washcloth I shared in a video post a couple weeks back.  This is a FREE Ravelry Download at the time of this post.  

This pattern was a bit of a challenge for me.  It was "misplaced" in the craft room for who knows how long.  I found the project while deciding whether to frog or finish things in a pile or random yarn and other things.  This was the only project that made the "finish" category.  I am super excited to have it finished.  Here is my final product, minus the unwoven in ends.  Let me know what you think.  I am slowly working on my knit skills.  Skills besides simple in the round hats LOL.

Also I want to apologize for some missing content on some posts the past week.  I think I have that all sorted out and the posts should be complete now.  I was trying to create blog posts on my phone and tablet, both of which are a little out of date, but still can perform most of what is necessary, while on vacation.  Apparently posting to blogger isn't one of those "necessary" things. LOL  Back home with my computer I can now post, and make sure posts are complete.  💙

That being said, I can't wait to share my next knit project with you.  It is a hat.........but I am working it flat.  Gonna learn to seam up flat things.  Why flat you may ask?  Be watching for that post and I will tell you.

Next Knit Nottawasaga Buff WIP

 I started another nottawasaga buff last night. I love these colors better than the first one I made.  This one is I Love This Yarn Print “Jazz Stripe”. I am thinking this one will work up faster than the last one.  If I make the same pattern more than once, and most defiantly more than once in a row, then you know I like it.  I did go down a needle size to a 5mm on this one. Cant wait to finish it.   What are you working on this weekend?  

I Finished the Knit Nottawasaga Buff

 I started it a few weeks back (January 28th), and finally finished it tonight. As always with knit projects I procrastinated, and as always once I finished it I was thinking “Why did I take so long to finish this?”.  I grabbed another skein of variegated yarn and plan to start another one tomorrow.  I actually enjoyed the pattern. This time i am going down a needle size.  The pattern recommends a 5.5mm which works great however I would like it a bit smaller.  I tend to be a loose knitter and I think the .5mm less difference will give me the sizing i am looking for.  Here’s the pattern,  It is a free pattern on Ravelry   I would rate it as beginner friendly.

12 Cast Ons Update

 Happy Groundhog Day!  I seen that Phil didn't see his shadow, however here he would have.  We have sunshine and it is to ne near 70 degrees today.  I am not expecting this nice weather to stick around.  I am expecting another cold snap before spring time.

I am glad  you are here.  Thought  I would share a little update on my projects today and how my foot is doing. 

First off my foot is doing a lot better.  The past 2 weeks I have only been wearing the boot on weekends when I walk a LOT.  During the week I am fine walking on it since i don't walk as much.  My foot does seem to get tired easy though.  

I finished a project this past week.  I finished the loom knit scarf.  I love how it turned out.  I used the full skein of yarn  it's Loops and Threads Fiesta Multi yarn.

I am looking forward to starting a new one soon.  I am thinking about using a different stitch pattern.

Here is an update on the second entry for the 12castons2024 hosted by yarnnyarns  this year.  It is the Nottawasaga Buff By Lucille Maierhofe (free ravelry pattern).  I have made good progress since my announcement for this entry. I think I have about 10 rows before starting the decrease.

And an upodate on my first 12castons entry, the tunisian plarn rug/mat.  this weekend I have 4 bags to add.  They are what we used up last weekend.

I am looking forward to adding them to the project.  This is after the bags last weekend.

I think it will go pretty quick but i may make another one if i like the pattern.  I want to work on my knitting skills a bit more this year.

Finished Projects Since Quitting YouTube

Hello Everyone!  I decided to quit YouTube.  I have been having trouble for some time (since 2020) with different things and it finally drove me to quit,  Nothing I have done wrong per their rules, it just they can't seem to confirm things and have been finding "problems" with different videos after they have been published for a time.  SO be it  Probably saves me time anyway,  I don't know how often I will blog but I hope to get back into the swing of things eventually.

I can't quite remember where we left off, if you watched my YT, but I have been making some hats.  I got addi out and made 3 hats with it.

I made a knit hat.  It's the Ross Hat pattern I always use. 

I have also created a couple tunisian crochet hats using a new "in the round" method I recently discovered.  You can can watch the videos that helped me HERE and HERE

I'm currently working on a few things.  No pictures yet though, until they are finished.  In the works is 3 tunisian projects.  A Morse Code themed washcloth with my name written in morse code, a hat in the round (with the new method) and a shawl for Terri and Lottie's May Challenge. You can check out their May challenge by watching one or both of their videos.  I almost didn't participate in this month's challenge, but I remembered that I said I was going to do all of them this year, since I wasn't focusing mainly on hats, hats, hats.  Last year I skipped a few of their challenges.
