Wants and Needs

I'm feeling positive but still a little scared  about moving.  We may be moving at midnight Saturday or we may be moving in nasty wintry weather the first of next week. Tonight we are supposed to get freezing rain changing to snow tomorrow then back to rain tomorrow night. I think its a little crazy but nothing with the weather seems normal anymore. It can change in a few hours.
God is GOOD and he does listen to our wants and needs. Sometimes he gives us what we think we want, even though we don't need it, to teach us a lesson. The object of the lesson isn't always what we expected.
Over the years there have been several "I wants" that I have asked and even begged for. I don't always get  it right away, and often what I get isn't what I expected.  I try to be more specific anymore when "demanding" my wants.

Pros & Cons

I'm thinking moving day will possibly be late Saturday night and Sunday.  I'm ready, but I'm not.  Here are some of my pros & cons of moving:

Cons first since I think there are less.......
  • I will have to get up earlier (maybe 30 minutes)
  • The kitchen is way smaller
  • The shower isn't really big enough for 1 person
  • I won't be able to "run home" anytime I want (this means better planning)
  • I will have to relearn how to cook on an electric stove (I hate electric stoves, I'm hoping we can replace it with a gas one)
  • We will have to drive 2 vehicles most days
  • Carpet in the whole house (except the bathroom)
  • The roof does leak (we will be getting that fixed this spring)
Pros, which are way more important, right?
  • It will save us a LOT of money since we own it
  • Utilities will be a LOT cheaper
  • I will have a yard
  • I will have space to grow a small garden if I want
  • I will have a clothesline (which I have really, really missed)
  • I will have a good internet connection
  • It will be warmer in the winter and cooler in the summer
  • No annoying the neighbors with our late nights (the walls are paper thin in the apartment, think motel)
  • I will know what is going on in the whole house at all times
  • There is a window in the kitchen (I've missed that)
  • Much quicker and easier to clean
I'm sure there are more, but those are the ones that stick out in my mind.

Why Do You Blog?

Why do I blog? I ask myself that question often.  I know I'm not a daily blogger, but I do blog.

Here are some reasons I Don't blog often:

Sometimes I don't blog because I don't have time, and when I do have time I'm falling in bed almost asleep before I hit the pillow.

Sometimes I don't blog because I don't feel I don't have anything useful/important to say.  (you know life is boring, that sort of thing)

Sometimes I don't blog because I feel it's none of the world's business where I live, what I do, what I eat, what I read, etc.

Sometimes I don't blog because I feel like it's pointless, who reads it anyway?  I've read the best way to get readers and visitors is to visit and comment on other blogs and join in with daily/weekly meme's, but often I don't have time to visit a lot of blogs and mostly when I DO visit I never know what to comment.

Here are some reasons I DO blog:

I'm always looking for friends. :-)

I feel I have experiences that may help someone else, but often I don't know how or what to blog about them.

I'm not a fake....what you read is the real me.  The good, the bad, and the ugly.

It's a great way to keep track of recipes and books I really, really like.

I like blogging because I like to play with HTML and CSS and change the way things look.  I think it's much easier on a blog format than on a web page.

I have some ideas for upcoming posts, like I said a few days ago, things are changing.  So be watching for posts on downsizing and small space ideas.  We are getting ready to move from about 3000 sq ft into about  700 sq ft.  EEK!  I've been looking on Pinterest for small space storage and decorating ideas.  Me who is so obsessed about living in an RV is freaking out about moving into a smaller house.  Yes I know the house is larger than the RV's we can afford......stay tuned, it might be getting excited.

Why I used to blog:

I used to blog because I wanted to be popular...... that hasn't happened  LOL!

I used to blog because I found "so and so's blog" and wanted a blog like theirs.....that hasn't happened.

I used to blog to promote my business......but I never knew what to say.

Why do You blog?  Leave me a comment and I will try to come visit you when I get a few extra minutes.

I am SO behind......

I am SO behind on almost everything!  *sigh*  I feel like there is so much that I am expected or need or want to do and get done. I just can't do it all! I don't know where to start or what to do, so I don't do anything. I know that is a very bad approach, I should just pick one thing and work at it until it's done, or for a short time and move on to something else.  I just can't, well maybe I should say won't.  That's more like it.  I would rather sit and read or play games on Facebook, or watch TV, than work at what I SHOULD be doing.
This is today's project.  It isn't a big pile, but to me is looks like a mountain.

Getting Ready for a New Chapter

Soon we will be starting a new chapter of our lives. We will be moving back to the dinky house we own. Why haven't we been living there if we own it? Long story.  In a way I'm looking forward to moving back, yet I'm not. Weighing the pros and cons though, the pros win hands down. God is probably shaking his head at me and thinking "I told you so" but like any child I wouldn't listen until I found out for myself, the hard way.

I'm a little behind in reading my Bible.  I just get started with Exodus. Things have been crazy.  This week in birthday week at our house.  The youngest boy, the niece, and me.  SO here are our cakes (I told my niece I would make her one)
I made mini cakes.  One devils food and one yellow, and made a 2 layer cake for each of us.  The cakes aren't homemade, but the frosting is.

Getting Caught Up

Yesterday was crazy. I didn't get a chance to read or blog.
Today was a good day. I did get yesterday's and today's reading done. I have currently read through Genesis chapter 44.
I have been looking at small space ideas on pinterest. It looks like we will be moving back to our old house instead of getting a new one. The old house is too small, or maybe we have too much stuff.  Either way we are probably going to be downsizing substantially space size.

Cookies

Tonight I read Genesis 37-39.

I made some amazing sugar cookies too.

So how was your day?

Today I actually read my Bible verses early.  I read Genesis 35-36.  Interesting stuff.  Can't say I remember reading or hearing some of that before.

So how was your day?  Mine started off on a sour note, got better, and by evening I wasn't going to let it get me down again.  SO what did I do? I pinned and looked through pins on Pinterest.

It's snowing again......wonder how much we will get this time?  Only supposed to be an inch.

How Do You Tell?

Today was a good/bad day. It started out good but ended on rather a bad note.

How am I supposed to know if what I think and say is my selfish wants or what God wants? Its not like the thoughts would physically hurt or endanger anyone. They are legit as far as I can tell.  I wish He world at least give me a clear solid answer.

Genesis 32-34 is what I am to read today.

Pride Goeth Before Destruction

Proverbs 16:18 Pride goeth before destruction, and an haughty spirit before a fall.

That verse has been on my mind most of the day. I can see how my pride and selfishness has put us in our current situation. We will not be buying a house after all. We have told the friend who has been living in our house (while we have been renting a nice apartment) our situation and they will be looking for a new place to live.

That makes the most logical decision since we own the house. Instead of spending a few less we will be saving a lot.  Its a small house, we lived there for 4 years, I think, and it was crowded. Now there is 1 less of us so maybe we can make it work.

I'm sad to ask our friend to move but there isn't any other logical situation right now.

Tonight I read Genesis 31. Interesting enough where I'm listening at while I go to sleep isn't too far off from where I am reading.

New Year New Beginnings

How are you today? I'm doing great. I'm not much of a fan of this frigid weather we are having. Don't like it one bit.  I'm ready for SUMMERTIME!
We did make it to church today. I've decided I need to stop being a negative grump about church. For several years I've been too busy pointing out faults of others and ignoring my own selfish self. Today's sermon kind of smacked me over the head. "New Year, New Beginnings".  I've decided to be on a mission to enjoy church instead of nitpicking at everything and everyone. Its going to be a good challenge.
Tonight I will read Genesis 28:10 - 30:43.  I have discovered how to listen to the Bible on my phone without using data. I will also be doing that when I go to bed. I can't think of a better way to fall asleep, unless its listening to music.
Stay warm. I'll catch you tomorrow.

Totally Embarrased

Oh my you will never believe what happened today. I picked up lunch at McDonald's today. I had to use the restroom..... wouldn't you know my phone rang and it was a call I needed to answer. No one told me the toilets automatically flushed when you got up. I don't think the person caught on, thankfully.
Tonight I discovered that I had already started a bible reading plan, so I, um kinda cheated.  I was only on Genesis 28:9, and I started it mid-December, so I "caught myself up" and am going from there.

TGIF

I'm glad its Friday, aren't you?  Today went by pretty fast.
We will probably be moving soon, so I've been looking at the real estate listings. I'm trying not to be picky but there are certain things I want. My husband told me what we could afford to put down so that helps eliminate quite a few. Some I wouldn't mind living in, but some are way to fancy. I'm just a plain, simple person, as you know.
I'll be glad to get out of this apartment. I'll miss my kitchen and bathroom for sure, but I won't miss the added expense of living here.
I've got it narrowed down to 3 houses that are currently available. I hope they are still available when we are ready to buy. If not I'm sure God has other plans.
Tonight I read Genesis 7 - 9.

Funny Text

Glad you stopped by today!
I got a funny text today from my sister. My nephew L wanted to know "if the cereal killer has got captain crunch yet?". I thought about it for about 5 minutes and replied "Yah, he is one frosted flake now. :-D". They both thought that my reply was funny.  I don't always think that witty but when I do its usually pretty good.
Well I gotta go. I'll be reading Genesis 4 - 6 tonight.  Are you reading too?

Happy New Year!

I'm so glad you're here. I hope we can visit more often this year.
I took a nice blog break, but I hope to be back every day and share with you a little bit from my day and where I am in my Bible reading.  I want to read the Bible all the way though this year.  Would you help keep me accountable?  Tonight I'm reading Genesis 1 - 3.
Today I enjoyed sleeping in. Since it is s holiday. The shop wasn't open today, however Cosmic Castle opened at 2:00. We were slow as expected.
You're not going to believe what happened, though. There were some customers that came in 7 minutes to close. I kindly let them know we were about to close. They said a few words among themselves and left. Hubby was coming back in as they were leaving and overhead them saying "I guess they don't want our business.".  Wow, seriously?  I sure hope the rest of the year is better than today.
