Another New Hat Started and Finally Frozen Pizza Success

Hey friends happy Thursday.  Today was pizza day ๐Ÿ• for us, but more on that in a bit. I started another preemie hat yesterday.  Previous I have made 3 with some worsted weight yarn.  Here’s what they look like.

Here’s the current preemie hat WIP.  I am using some Yarn Bee Soft Secret. Its nice and soft. I have started the body of the hat. I am a couple rows in.  I can’t wait to finish this one amd make some more. Finally a project for my Yarn Bee yarn.

Now for thr pizzas.  They were much better than usual.  My regular oven tends to burn them before the cheese is melted.  This time I cooked the cheese pizza exclusively in my toaster oven. The other one i started in the regular oven and finished in the toaster oven. Much improved for both of them.  Hubbie commented that he wishes the crust on his was a little crispier. I will try to improve on that next time.  I think I will be doing the frozen pizzas this way in the future.  Note I did thaw them before baking. They each took about the regular time to bake.

Tonight we went to Braums so I could check thier fresh market prices. Thier app and website don’t seem to be working for any of my devices.  I made a list on my phone withnthe item, size, amd current price.  At least now I have a better idea what they have available, that I would purchase, and the approximate prices for those items.  Hopefully using thier little grocery section will help with my stress level when grocery shopping. ๐Ÿ›’  Some items I will still need to go to the regular grocery store for, but the less I need from there the better.  The local farmers market is due to start back up soon.  I need to try and support local farmers as well, unless thier prices are higher than i can get at the grocery store or Braums.

Hopefully tomorrow I can have a finished crochet project or two to share with you.

I need to say this.......

I have posted a couple videos to my  YouTube Channel this month but just can't seem to find time to make more of them and edit them.  Life has apparently been a bit more crazy this whole year.  I have found it easier to blog lately, although I am not totally consistent, I have blogged more than making videos.

In one of my recent videos I mentioned talking about something that has changed my thinking.  Well here it is:

I watched a video, and I can't remember which one now. but the creator said something to the effect "You don't have to be like everyone else.  Just because you watch a video and they are making this or certain things......YOU DON'T HAVE TO MAKE AND DO WHAT THEY ARE DOING."  Well, duh I know that and I could have probably come to that conclusion myself eventually, but I usually don't.  I dunno why.  It's like the "making videos for the memories" like I mentioned in another recent video.  YA that makes sense, but I don't have a big desire to make videos right now.  I would rather take pictures and share them and write about them instead.  Does it take less time?   Again, I dunno.  Is it easier?  I say yes it is, and I can write anywhere I am instead of thinking I have to be in a certain place and things have to be perfect in the background and the lighting perfect, etc.  Am I making sense?  If I am, Yea!  If not, then I just dunno.

Do I still watch YouTube videos? Absolutely, but not near as many crochet or knit channels as I used to.

I think that's all for now.  If I think of more later I will just make another post.

Well i didn’t make it back on Monday

I didn’t make it back on Monday to report on the weekend WIPs.
I didn’t actually work on any of them except a couple rows on the Flat Knit Hat. I  did however start a new project instead.  I started a blanket for someone special.  You can check that out in yesterday’s video post, if you haven’t already watched it.

Until next time ♥️๐Ÿงถ

I Got a New Yarn Bowl

One of my uncles made me this beautiful bowl for my yarn/WIPs.

It is made from cedar. Cedar is one of my favorite woods. He asked if I wanted to smell it or have it sealed. Honestly wanted to smell it but didn’t think projects I would be donating should smell like cedar, so I asked for it to be sealed.

It is big enough to hold 2 of the 7oz skeins of yarn.  Just the perfect size.

The yarn in the bowl is Big Twist Rainbow Bright. I purchased it for a special project. It isn’t the color I was really wanting but it’s what Joann’s had. Be watching for updates on this project. ♥️

Go On An Auto Unlock Call With Us

 Rattle along with us down a country grave road, in SE Kansas, and get lost on the way to unlock a vehicle. Honestly this vehicle was an easy peasy one. They don’t always go this easy. But after 25 years of practice they do seem to cooperate much easier than they used to ๐Ÿ˜‚

I must also say this was much enjoyable for me as I hardly leave town for the county. Deer, wild turkeys, cows, trees, water……..very relaxing and enjoyable ♥️

Finished Cable Hat and Mom Update

Today I finished the Cables & Strips hat. I love how it turned out.  I used I Love This Yarn “Orange Zest” print yarn.  Even though our weather has been nice lately I plan to give it to the lady at church Sunday. I’m guessing we will have one more cold snap before Spring actually arrives. It is just how Kansas is.   Wonder what I will finish next. ๐Ÿค”  Guess we will both have to wait and see. Maybe I will grab one of my other wips to work on ……like the knit neck scarf thingie…..if I have time to work on anything this weekend.

Update on my mom. She seems to be settling in quite well. We did get her laundry washed last night. While it was washing we made a Walmart run to pick up some things she needed. That was a scary new thing for me. (We don’t shop at Walmart) Thankfully I didn’t see anyone I knew. ๐Ÿ˜‚  We got back just in time to move the clean clothes to the dryer. While they dried we worked on organizing her kitchen.  I LOVE het kitchen.  We finished up just as my timer went off to go get the clothes out of the dryer.  We still have a little more to do unless she gets to it this weekend while I am working.

Hope you have a great weekend. I may or may not be back before Monday.

It is Freezer Defrosting Day

Its freezer defrosting day. I have needed to do this for a while now. I don’t actually use the freezer part just the fridge, I have a bigger freezer to use.  Once it is finished defrosting i am going to give it a good scrubbing. I am also going to set it up on some milk crates to make it taller. (Its a mini fridge if you couldn’t tell).
While it was defrosting i decided to play around with bread bags making plarn (plastic yarn). I have done this before but used an assortment of bags and did not like the outcome because the bags were all different thicknesses. I also didn't like crocheting with the plarn.  So what did i try this time?  You probably guessed it…..Tunisian Crochet!

One complete row is about 1 full bag worth of loops looped together.

Well it looks like it is working ok. I turned it up a notch. I do not want my fridge stuff freezing.

.

For those who are wondering how my foot is …. It is still a bit sore. The swelling is down since Tuesday. I can walk on it with boot on, and without the boot and a crutch.  I think it will be healed in no time.

I Got A New Boot

I have a fancy new boot.  Not
Exactly the kind of boot i would dream of having and wearing.

Last night i missed a step on the way down our stairs. I am 99% sure my ankle is not broken. It is just badly sprained. Reading online at sprain information i am going to say at least a level 2 and more likely a level 3.   No worries if it does not get better i will go to a doctor. Just do not see a reason if i can stabilize it myself, which is what a Dr would do and charge me a pretty penny.

I got on my church ladies messenger and asked for a knee scooter or walker with a seat that i could borrow. I also asked on my FB friends.  By 5:00 today a friend had offered and brought the boot and a church lady is loaning me her walker. Hopefully she does not need it before i am back on 2 feet.

The boot, within a couple hours, had appeared to reduce the swelling a bit.  I have a pair of crutches i am using for now. The walker should be delivered tomorrow.   The combination of the two (boot and walker) should make working this weekend a little easier.  Still will be difficult and a challenge for sure.

Prayers would be appreciated.  Several have already been answered. Quick healing is an important one that i am praying hard about.

Too Cold!

 BURRRR! I thought it was cold on Friday.  Um Yah it is really cold now!!  It's also snowing and suppose to snow all day.  It is currently 12:40PM and we are at 0°.

Last night i worked on a sleeping WIP. It is s double thick loom knit hat i started last fall sometime.

I am on the second side, which will only be 2 big stripes.  I am using e-wrap.  The yarn is a little on the thin side but I think once I double it up it will be warmer than it looks.  I am doing it like an addi hat.  I worked a little on the loom knit scarf the past couple days and have made a little progress.

9:15pm
Overall we had a good day and weekend despite the wintery weather.  I did finish the hat today.  The loom is a 54 peg. I started with a drawstring cast on and made a total of 80 rows with e-wrap. I finished it off like an addi hat.  The next one i think i will make 90 rows. This one is long enough but just barely.

Here is both sides of the hat:

Slow Friday Thanks to the Weather

Happy Freezing Friday! I brought you a cuppa hot chocolate to warm up with. You are going to need it, trust me. ๐Ÿฅถ  It is currently 1:23 pm  and 17° but it feels like ZERO. Burrr!  It was 51° inside this morning at 9am which, compared to outside, felt pretty good. Last time i checked the thermostat said 61°. It is set on 66° but i do not expect it to make it, thus it will run all day.

Our phone/internet has been down since about noon.  It happened right in the middle of taking a customers order. Good thing we have a BackUp plan A and BackUp plan B. Business will continue semi-normally, just no call in orders until service is restored.

Anyway on to happier thoughts.
FOOD ๐Ÿ˜ƒ

Last night i baked some toffee bites cookies. They are almost gone,  so today i will be baking some double chocolate chip cookies. Gotta keep my customers happy. Plus the oven will help heat it up for a little bit.

Last night i also made a big pot of homemade potato soup.  It definitely is cold enough for soup, but potato is not what the customers are wanting. They keep asking for my homemade chicken noodle.  Honestly i have not had time to make it lately. When i do though, i better make a double batch.

Last night for supper i had a polish sausage with sauerkraut.  Holy smokes was it delicious!  It is currently a limited time menu item and i used this picture to post to the business social media sites to advertise it. (same with the soup and cookies photos)

This morning i fixed waffles for brunch. Mmmm they were good. I prefer waffles over pancakes and french toast 99% of the time.

Enough food til i make cookies later, which i plan to start on as soon as i am finished with this post draft. No worries i will share a picture of them. ๐Ÿ˜ƒ

Now it is FIBER NEWS๐Ÿงถ

I am almost finished with the second hat for the January Challenge. Yes i planned the colors on this one, but i assure you they were all scraps. ๐Ÿงถ

I also started a loom knit scarf. This yarn is perfect! ๐Ÿงถ

Ok off to make those double chocolate chip cookies …….

Our internet/phone service was restored around 2:00, while i was working on those yummy cookies.

3:30pm Cookies are  baked and ready to sell.  Good thing they are to sell because i could eat the whole dozen myself.

I only baked a dozen but i have enough cookie dough for 1 maybe 2 dozen or so more. I will make them up as these sell

About 4:30
Hubby and i decided to cover up the window AC unit. Dunno why we waited so long. Probably because this is the coldest its been so far this winter. It did help a lot.

After that i got some toys ready to restock one of the redemption games at our restaurant

Around 8:00pm I made an apple crisp for hubby and me to share. It is not very big, i just used 1 apple. We will make it last for 2 meals.

Thanks for hanging out with me today. I hope you enjoyed reading some things i did.  Until next time…….

Friday 10/6/2023

11:35pm

The past couple days have flown by. I didn't have time to sit and write.  I did manage to finish a crochet hat.  I love the way it turned out.

Today the temperature was much cooler.  Hopefully we are officially finished with the above 80 temps for 2023.  Being cooler it put me in the baking mood.  I made homemade oatmeal cream cookies, banana bread muffins, and marshmallow cream filled banana muffins.  they are all so delicious!  It's late so I best get some sleep.

9:20am

Good Morning friends.

The weather outside this morning:::
it's a little on the cloudy side and 70 degrease.  today's high is to be 85 with a low of 65 tonight with a 65% chance of showers overnight.  I love overnight rain showers.  It makes for a good nights sleep.

Right now I am:::

Just waking up.  well sorta. I've been up for about an hour.  I'm still trying to think of things I know I need to accomplish today.

Something funny from yesterday:::
I had a nice conversation with a little girl who was concerned because a character in the "Little Mermaid" movie burned themselves.  I told the little girl that the character  probably didn't listen to her mom about how fire burns and hurts you. the little girl then told me that the character didn't have a mom.  I replied with that's probably why then because no one told her.  The conversation went on for quite some time.  It was fun talking with the little girl.  I am unfamiliar with the newer movie and don't recall if it happened in the older one as I've only seen it a couple times a long time ago.

Currently Reading:::
Still working on the 1st "Dear Mr. Ted(affiliate link) book  I made some more progress last night.

On my to do list today:::

I need to get some things ordered and reserved for the upcoming mini vacation I mentioned yesterday.  I am washing out heavy blanket this morning since it's supposed to be cooling off this weekend. I need to get it hung up as soon as I can so it has time to dry before tonight.  We have actually been using it all summer.  Me more than Hubby, since I'm the one who is always cold with the fan or AC going.

Today's Lunch:::
I made 2 chicken club pizzas last night. that gives us lunch for today, the leftover pizza.  I also need to set out some chicken to thaw because I'm thinking sweet & sour chicken for supper tonight.

Preparing for Cooler weather:::
It has been warm/cold/warm/cold. It still can't seem to make up its mind, however I think it may have finally decided to start being cooler as of this weekend.  I already pulled cooler weather clothes out and washed them when it did this a couple weeks back, so they are ready.  And as I mentioned above I am washing the blankets today.

What's on the hook/needles:::

I'm working on a crochet hat today.  I started it last night. If I finish it I will most likely start another one.

Something I Recently Made:::

Homemade Oatmeal Cream Pies.  Man they are delicious and way better than store bought!  Here's the recipe link if you want to try them out yourself.

Well I better get up and get busy.  I have things to accomplish today

Thank you for stopping by and visiting.

Well.......

Hello everyone!  I had a YouTube subscriber contact me saying they had watched a 30+ minute ad, which was 1 of 2, before one of my videos.  That did NOT make me happy at all. Effective today I have removed all monetization on my YouTube videos.  I do plan to keep making videos but definitely won't be trying to make money from them anymore.  It's not like I have made a whole lot anyway.  In the past month or so what I made has gone down, down, down.  Somehow less views and less ad revenue. SO.....maybe that is my cue to come back to blogging more.  I've been thinking about doing it but never seem to "have the time", or "never have anything to say".  It's so much easier to make a video and edit it a little than it is to type something out.  Oh well, time will tell.

Happy Saturday!

I can’t believe this is the last day of November!  Christmas is now much closer. ใ‚ท
Im not ready. Are you?  I do have 3 gifts already. Still need to decide on the last 3. Those may end up being store bought instead of homemade.  Here are a few pictures from Thanksgiving
I made a homemade graham cracker crust

For my chocolate mousse pie

MMMMM there was 2 servings left.

I played with some old CD's experimenting for a fair project idea I have
Then I remodeled my craft room.  We had the red counter top and it fits perfectly over the backs of some chairs we have.  Now I have a work space in my craft room.

I finished this hat.....It's STILL too small!  Grrrr!  Guess I'll have to try again sometime.  The pattern says ages 12-adult but 3 times now, even though I have added rows and gone up a hook size it still measures out for toddler size.

and just something totally random before I end ....... I found this totally amusing.  The blanket fuzz from one of the blankets on the bed left me a message......"12".  Wonder what it means?  LOL!

Thanks for stopping by and be watching for my Vlogmas video's over on my YouTube channel.

Today in the Kitchen

I did a lot of prep in the kitchen this morning.....I had a 10# bag of chicken leg quarters that I got for 39¢ last week.  I divided them up to freeze.  These are for Hubby.....I don't eat them LOL!

 I forgot to take pictures, but I also had a 5# chub of hamburger that I divided up into a 1# and 2# package.  The other 2# I put in the crockpot with some chopped up bell pepper and dehydrated onions.  This will be used for chili sometime soon.
I used the last package of previously purchased leg/thigh quarters and put them in the crockpot for hubby for supper.  I topped them with sweet baby ray's bbq sauce.

I cut up a few red potatoes and put them in water to soak a few hours before I cooked them for supper.

I put them in my fridge to soak.....yes that's my fridge.  Not a lot in it, but it's not very big at all.  We downsized after the youngest son moved into his own place.

Here's my 2 crockpots cooking away.  They will be waiting on my arrival later in the day.

I cut up some red, orange, and yellow bell peppers, red onion and mushrooms to sautee in with the potatoes.  They were super yummy!  I shared a little with hubby to go with his BBQ chicken.

Hubby said his bbq chicken was good.....and the potatoes much better than the first time.
