Yesterday I bought a pack of batteries for a job hubby went to do. They cost me $9.78. I think the store I went to purposely tries to trick you on the price. When I look at the shelf, almost always the price is BELOW the item I'm purchasing. This time the price was ABOVE the item. I was a little irritated, but got them anyway because he needed them. The price I thought I was paying for the pack was for a smaller pack, half the size I got. I got to thinking on the way back, and I could have bought 2 of the smaller packs and saved a penny or two. I wasn't thinking in the store, I was just getting them and trying to get back so hubby could go do the job. *note to me to pay a little more attention next time*

Menu 3-26-2015
It's been a good 3 years or so since I've made a menu. I'm a little out of practice. No use using the old recipes we used to use back in the day.....our taste buds are a little more refined now. Plan to shop tomorrow (Thursday) and do most of my cooking on Sunday afternoon. This should feed us next week.
Find a Penny Save a Penny
Today I used some of my $100 to put gas in our van. I put $4.99 in. Well, technically $5.00 but I found a penny in the parking lot and put it in my coin purse. $5.00 only gave me about an eighth of a tank, but that is enough to get us to church tonight for supper and Bible study. I am only driving if I have to. When I got gas, I was also going to the bank, which is too far to walk.
Here's a tip on how to NOT go over on your gas purchase. Go in and pre-pay the amount you want to put in. The pump automatically shuts off for you at the predetermined amount. This only works, of course during business hours, or at a 24 hour gas station.

$100 Challenge
I have been given a challenge. Just like everyone else money has gotten incredible tight for us. This has happened before and we swam out from under it and was out of debt. We have done it before, we WILL do it again.
Here’s the challenge. Since the credit cards are now off limits until further notice, we have gone cash only. Hubby gave me $100 tonight and said make that go as far as you can. I asked him if it was a challenge, and I accepted the challenge. That $100 dollars has to buy food and non food items until I can’t squeeze any more out of that bill. Thankfully we have a pretty well stocked pantry. The challenge there is making meals that aren't bland or boring.
Tonight’s purchase (and the first on on the challenge) was 2 bags of cat litter. Hubby and I walked to the dollar store, and purchased 2 7# bags (cheaper than purchasing the 20# bag) for the cost of $2.21. this leaves me with $98.20 (counting the change I already had in my purse) to last as long as I can stretch it.
Are you in on the $100 challenge? Comment and let me know. Maybe we can help each other out along the way.

Mission Accomplished.....and some Crochet
Last week I went to the grocery store. Haven't done that for US in quite some time. WE have been eating out nearly twice a day for the past 3 weeks. That gets expensive. Current situation though, it seemed logical. Anyway I posted my "plan" last week. I am happy to say we have NOT had any lunches, except last Sunday, out. However, with running for supplies a couple nights this past week and being open Friday night we have eaten out several nights. That is the next plan....keep having things to fix for lunches, and eat more evenings at home. The roast & taters planned for last week, we will have tomorrow. I need to devise another plan for next week so I can go to the store tomorrow afternoon. MISSION ACCOMPLISHED this week!

HHM ~~ 3/16/2015
It's been about a month since I've joined Sandra with HHM. I've just been busy and not interested in posting (cause it's always the same old thing, or so I feel). BUT things have changed, and things are a little different, and I'm super excited!
Today's Menu:::
Didn't have breakfast, but it's lunch time now and I'm having 2 ham n cheese hot pockets and a pepsi.
Not sure what we will be having tonight.
I made something other than a hat.......
Ok so I made a hat first. This is my forst ever 100% cotton project. I've never used cotton before. I'm in LOVE! No more acrylic yarn!
I crocheted this hat up Saturday evening. It was spoken for before I even had it finished. God is so good isn't he? I'm so glad I listened to him for once.

SQUEE!
I finished the pink/purples spiral hat. It is probably a S/M Youth size. I decided to make just one, and did something else with the rest of the purples. Glad I did because I don't think there would have been enough for another hat.
Menu? What's that?
I haven't made a menu up in 3+ years. We always ate at work......now that we aren't serving food right now, eating out is getting a bit expensive. I've decided to make a menu and make some homemade meals. Being the busy person I am I'm looking at slow cooker things that I can make ahead and heat/prep later.

Another Hat Another Week
Seems like I am able to get out at least one hat a week. Over the weekend I finished a solid color hat. (I know totally strange, first one I've made that was a solid color) This one is Honey Gold, and it's just as amazing as the others. Tell me what you think.
