Currently Reading:  12 Years a Slave
On my menu today:  Today I ate a bean burrito with sour cream and potato locos for lunch, a Chicago dog and regular sun chips for supper, and pancakes for a later snack/meal. I drank sweet tea and Pepsi. Now I'm munching on ice waiting for it to turn to water.
On the Radio: probably nothing tonight.
TV on my Computer: Today I didn't have time to watch anything.
What I found while surfing the net: didn't do much surfing today.
On my to do list tonight:  this morning before leaving for church I put the clean dishes away. Tonight after feeding the cats and cleaning their boxes (will do that here in s bit) I have no other plans. Maybe watch some YouTube. :-)
Looking around the house: not much different than last night.  LOL!
From the camera:  Pretty flowers in my yard. Oh how I have missed having a yard the past 2 years.

The Best BBQ

My favorite BBQ place opened last week. Its a food truck that sets up on the weekends, except for winter. Their belly buster potato is my absolute favorite.   Its a potato cooked on the smoker, butter, onions, sour cream, and their BBQ brisket, which is absolutely amazing.  I'm not a big meat eater but I could eat their brisket by the bowl full.
If you are ever here on the weekend you have to give Dixon's Fixins a try.

Spring Is Near!

Spring is just around the corner.  We had a really nice day a while back and I took these pictures.
My kitty Reecie was enjoying looking outside at the new scenery.  She has been seeing cars, concrete, and tall buildings for the past 2 years, so grass, leaves and trees must be a nice change.

I ventured into the back yard (which is a total mess since we moved out 2 years ago) and found some daffodils starting to bloom.

Found this monstrous hole in the ground near the end of the sidewalk in the back yard. It has to be a good 3-4 feet deep and about 3 feet wide!  Hubby says it's the local groundhog that dug it.  The critter is huge!  Gonna need to fill that in somehow.  Thankfully it's off to the side.  And there is NO going out in the back yard after dark without a flashlight.  LOL!

Maybe I Should......

Maybe I should rename my blog to "Rare Ramblings of the Smelly Lady". I have good ideas for posts in my head when I am busy. When I have time to write I'm tired or it doesn't even cross my mind.  *sigh*  I've thought about just giving up. I don't get many visitors, and I rarely have time to go visiting other blogs.  Something keeps pulling me back here though.

Kansas Sunset

We went out of town the other day (its rare yes, but we did take a day off) to find a box truck to haul arcade games to be repaired. We found a very reasonably price retired uhaul.   It was late when we finally headed home and the sunset was pretty. I usually never get to see them.

Happy Homemaker Monday ~~ 3/10/14

You know, even though I'm not a SAHM I'm still a homemaker.  I have a family to take care of and a home that should be kept it neat and clean.  I do also have the responsibility of 2 businesses to keep neat and clean, and a multitude of customers to care for as well.  Wow!  So....I've decided Happy Homemaker Monday,is all about my home AND my businesses.  They are where I spend my time, with my family none the less, 24 hours a day.

The weather.....   Beautiful weather!  low 60's to near 70 all week long!

Right now I am.... I'm waiting on the last pan of chocolate chip cookies to bake, then it's clean up the kitchen and go relax.  Maybe read some, even though I should be working on the bedroom.

On my Kindle....
I finished reading   and am about half way finished with .

On the menu this week......  tonight I fixed steak and skillet fried french fries for hubby and son and a frozen pizza for myself, Tuesday night we will eat chicken noodle dinners, if there are any leftovers.  Other than that it's sandwiches or hot dogs as usual.  Want to plan ahead a little and have something for Sunday.  I'm tired of eating out.  There is only 1 place we will eat on Sunday after church, and we need something different for a change.

On the Radio.... Absolutely nothing. Later, when I go to bed I will turn the scanner on.

TV on my Computer.....  The most recent episode of ABC's Switched at Birth some time this week on my computer.  I have also been watching random full length movies on YouTube.  It's so nice to have a real internet connection at home

What I found while surfing the net.... I been looking for help writing a business plan.  We have another idea now that the only 2 available buildings that would work for a restaurant both have serious plumbing issues.  *sigh*

On my to do list this week....
[at the lock/incense shop this week:]
  1. sweep
  2. dust
  3. clean the glass cases
  4. add products to Mythril Security
  5. Take pictures for things to sell on E-Bay
[ for Cosmic Castle this week:]
  1. We are closed on Monday's, and open regular hours the rest of the week
  2. Tonight (Monday) we will make the Chicken N Noodles (from scratch to serve Tuesday evening) and homemade cookies
  3. Wednesday Morning I count inventory
  4. Thursday is truck day
[at home this week:]
Still have some things to find a home for.  The kitchen is mostly organized, but we use it almost daily.

Looking forward to this week....  Getting more things organized. Warmer temperatures. working more on the business plan so we can hopefully move forward.

As I look outside the window..... Well it's dark now, but I was outside earlier and it was absolutely beautiful!  I have SO missed having a yard!  I walked around looking at everything and smiled.  A clothesline, raised tire beds, grape vines, gooseberry bush, daffodils coming up.  Oh how I've missed it.

Looking around the house.... The kitchen is clean.  The dishes are all washed and it's ready for the next time it's used.  The living room is still has boxes that need to go to the shed. The bedroom is still a disaster.

From the camera.......

Saturday night we had a freezing fog.  It was a little annoying to drive home in, but the designs it painted on my car were awesome!

On my prayer list.....
  • My grandpa (he's 94 years old)
  • My sister
  • My Uncle T
  • Business decisions
  • Tuesday night to be successful
  • SUMMERTIME to get here
  • being able to cook on an electric stove and not burn things.  (I hate electric stoves)

Never a Dull Moment

There is never a dull moment around here. Something eventful happens almost every day.   The washer and dryer are to the right of this door.  The other day I was trying to get a basket of dirty clothes to the washer and I bumped the door.

Now we have an old quilt nailed up for a bathroom door.  I learned the door up against the wall so we still have somewhere to hang our towels.

Homemade Pop Corn and Kettle Corn

Homemade popcorn is amazing! I prefer to use Bacon drippings but I also use either crisco or coconut oil. Here is my recipe:
1 Tbsp Crisco
1/4 Cup unpopped corn
Put the Crisco in a 4qt pan and melt. (for an electric stove I put the burner temperature on about medium or "5") Add corn. Cover with a lid and shake to coat kernels.  It takes maybe a minute or two to pop. I pick pan up once or twice to shake it. When popping has slowed remove pan and pour popped corn into bowl. Be careful it's easy to burn the popcorn. I make 4 batches for my big stainless mixing bowl.

To make kettle corn use the above recipe and also add 1 teaspoon of granulated sugar on your kernels before you put the lid on and shake to mix. I got this batch a little burnt, the sugar doesn't help much.  LOL!

I am relearning how to cook on an electric stove after having a gas stove for 2 years.   I haven't had too many disasters yet.  The oven is a different story though.  *sigh*

I Hate The Shower!

Its not big enough! It is about the size of a phone booth (for those who remember them). There just isn't enough room to do much of anything in there.  It literally is standing room only.  Raise your arms to wash your hair and you touch the sides or push the curtain out and water gets on the floor. Drop the soap......forget it. You're not getting it unless you physically get out of the shower. There isn't enough room to even squat straight down to get it without touching the sides.

I made the decision the other night that I will be getting liquid soap to put in there. It is a major ordeal if you drop the bar of soap, and I always do. I also need to get another hand held shower thing to replace the shower head. Not sure why the one we had on there was removed.

Until we get the time and money to put a full size tub back in I will have to make it work the best I can.

This is an old picture from the 1st time we lived there, as you can see the shower is about HALF the size of a  full sized tub.  There used to be a tub in there.

Happy Homemaker Monday ~~ 3/3/2014

You know, even though I'm not a SAHM I'm still a homemaker.  I have a family to take care of and a home that should be kept it neat and clean.  I do also have the responsibility of 2 businesses to keep neat and clean, and a multitude of customers to care for as well.  Wow!  So....I've decided Happy Homemaker Monday,is all about my home AND my businesses.  They are where I spend my time, with my family none the less, 24 hours a day.

The weather.....   Cold!  Negative degree wind chills and snow.  However it's supposed to start warming up and be near 60 by Friday.

Right now I am.... I'm waiting on the last pan of chocolate chip cookies to bake, then it's clean up the kitchen and go relax.  Maybe read some, even though I should be working on the bedroom.

On my Kindle.... I've read  a couple more short stories recently:

I am currently reading

On the menu this week......  tonight we had lasagna, Tuesday night we will eat chicken noodle dinners, if there are any leftovers.  Other than that it's sandwiches or hot dogs as usual.

On the Radio.... Absolutely nothing.  For some reason KLove, or maybe it's my internet connection, but it disconnects like stream about every 4 minutes.

TV on my Computer.....  The most recent episode of ABC's Switched at Birth some time this week on my computer.  I have also been watching random full length movies on YouTube.  It's so nice to have a real internet connection at home

What I found while surfing the net.... I seen some really yummy looking recipes but haven't actually made any or bookmarked them

On my to do list this week....
[at the lock/incense shop this week:]
  1. sweep
  2. dust
  3. clean the glass cases
  4. add products to Mythril Security

  4. Thursday is truck day
  5. Saturday we have a birthday party scheduled
[at home this week:]
Still have some things to find a home for.  The kitchen is mostly organized, but we use it almost daily.

Looking forward to this week....  Getting more things organized. Warmer temperatures towards the end of the week.

As I look outside the window..... Well it's dark now, but I know there is still snow on the ground.

Looking around the house.... The kitchen is nearly complete as it can be for now.  The living room is close, still have boxes that need to go to the shed after it warms up, and a few things to find a place to put them.  The bedroom is a disaster.

From the camera.......

Someone must have wanted to go outside.  This was on the floor like this when we got home tonight.  I going to guess it was my Reecie kitty.  She must have not looked outside, because I'm sure she wouldn't like the snow.  LOL!

On my prayer list.....
  • My grandpa (he's 94 years old)
  • My sister
  • Business decisions
  • Tuesday night to be successful
