Well i didn’t make it back on Monday

I didn’t make it back on Monday to report on the weekend WIPs.
I didn’t actually work on any of them except a couple rows on the Flat Knit Hat. I  did however start a new project instead.  I started a blanket for someone special.  You can check that out in yesterday’s video post, if you haven’t already watched it.

Until next time ♥️🧶

What I Plan To Work On This Weekend

Since I don't plan to add pictures to this post I thought I would fancy it up a bit with a different font and color.  Man sure wish I could write this neat in cursive.  I used to have nice handwriting, or so I thought, back in the day when I was completing written assignments after written assignments.  Now I hardly write except for occasionally and I am way out of practice of neat handwriting,

Anyway....this weekend I have a few projects in mind to work on.  One being the Flat Knit Hat that I shared a few days ago.  I would also like to finish the "Addi Blanks" I made earlier this week.  Also if I still have time I would like to finish the blue one and make some more blue or other color Kitty Cat Squares.  Th last thing I have on my list is working on a couple crochet hats I have started,  One is this one that I am redoing that my Mom had made that was too small,  The other one is one I started yesterday.  It's 4 different purple shades of scraps that I balled up together.  I don't have a picture of it yet, that's how new it is.

I will see ya guys again on Monday with an update on the projects I have mentioned.

Hats for Preschool

It's that time of year again, rounding up the hats for a local preschool  I currently have  60/100 in the tote. I am guessing a good 50 of those my Mom made before she went to live in a retirement center (nursing home).  My sister went to visit her a couple weeks ago and said the hats she was seeing that mom had were little pointy hats that were too small for preschoolers, maybe event too small for a baby.  It's sad she isn't able to make a hat, but at least she is still crocheting and keeping her mind somewhat occupied.

This past week I made what I call "addi blanks".  I crank out the panels and then take them with me to close off and finish later.

2 different dollar tree yarns,  The green is "sage" unsure what color the orange is.

RedHeart Americana I was surprised my Addi accepted this yarn, it usually doesn't like RedHeart yarn,

Some Yarn Bee Baby yarn.  Unsure of the color.  This will be a smaller hat as it was a size 3 weight and I kept a pretty tight tension on it.  It should be OK tough.  Honestly I think it would stretch enough to fit me.

Loops & Threads Prints (I think)  Believe this is called Bisque.  IT was a size 5 yarn but it worked up beautifully.  I used very little to no tension on this.  It is super thick and should be super warm.

I will probably work on finishing these up this weekend.   My goal is to have 100 hats made by the 1st Sunday in November.  Hopefully it doesn't get too cold before then.  They like to wait til it gets cold before they hand them out.

More Polka Dot Squares

I have been on a polka dot square kick this year and have made quite the collection from mostly scrap yarn.  Some have been actual planned colors most are random grabbing without looking.  Here’s my latest dot squares

What is my plan for them? I am going to donate them.

Here’s all my squares to date:

Have you ever made polka dot squares!

What's On My Needles Now?

Well....I mentioned it was a hat.....that I was knitting flat.  But why flat? Well the yarn I am using is a bulky weight yarn.  a size 5.  I am using a size US9 or 5.5mm which is recommended on the ball band.  I casted on 72 using the crochet cast on method.  Hopefully that is gonna be big enough.  It appears it should be.  Oh yah, WHY Flat?  Well because I don't have any DPNs for that size of needle.  I figure it will give me a chance to learn a new knitting skill.....seaming up a project.  Nothing fancy on this one.  I made about a 1.5 inch ribbed brim and am just knitting every row.  Guess that's called garter stitch.  I am looking forward to finishing it.

The yarn is loops and threads carousel twist lemoncello

Have you ever made a flat knit hat?  Can you recommend a good YT video explaining the best way to seam up a project?
