WIP Wednesday -What Ya Working On Wednesday

Happy Wednesday I feel like it should be Saturday already.

Monday and Tuesday we moved my Mom Closer. She is practically my next door neighbor.  Monday was a very long, tiring day moving furniture. Tuesday we had to go back to her old place and pick up her car and run a few errands with her.  Today it’s cleaning day at The Castle.  There’s no church tonight, so I am goin over to Mom’s after supper and help her do laundry and work on putting stuff away and organize her new place a bit better. I’m hoping she will let me cook for her soon as we organize her kitchen. She said she doesn’t like to cook and she definitely doesn’t eat very healthy right now.   This is definitely going to be a new adventure for Me and Hubby.  We shall see how it goes.

That being said I started ANOTHER project last night. I dropped the 2 loom projects off in the craft room for now. I still have the Cables and Stripes crochet hat in my bag to work on. Yarn is much easier to transport than knitting looms.  Anyway I started a Tunisian hat, bottom up, using my Clover size J double end hook. The yarn I chose was a Caron one pound in the color Royal, and a Yarn Bee Soft Secret in the color Mist. I have just finished the brim, which is 4 rows of extended simple stitch. The body of the hat will be simple stitch.  Do you think I will finish this one and the Cables and Stripes hat before starting another project? ๐Ÿคฃ

Easy Cheesy Broccoli and Rice in the Microwave

This is  my latest favorite thing to cook, and i make it in the microwave.   I use regular rice (not minute rice, although you can use that too) following the stovetop cook directions, and add a tsp of chicken boullion.  I heat mine for 9 minutes in 3 minute increments.  I put some frozen broccoli in another container with a little water and cook/steam it for 1 1/2 to 2 minutes. Add it to the rice, add my cheese, and a smidgeon of garlic salt.  Mmmmm its so good.  It would also be good with some chicken or beef added, but I didn’t have any to add.

Scrap Yarn Tote and Loom Hat Project Update

Earlier this week I decided to organize my scrap yarn tote.  The yarn balls were all tangled and it was just a mess.  I am sure I probably have more scraps hidden in my craft room. ๐Ÿ˜‚

It laid them all out on the table and snapped a picture so I can refer back to it to see what is in there without digging through and messing it all up again.

It was completely full back in November when I started making hats for Preschool.  Theres still a lot left. The tote is a 40 quart size.

This week I worked on the loom knit hat.  I was going to give it to a lady at my church who asked for a hat, but decided to give her something different. I will share that in a bit.  The neon fleck grey (I Love This Yarn Grey Confetti), which was in my scrap tote, ran out on row 51. I made a notation on my stitch counter.

I have finished row 73 of 102. (Trying to make it even ๐Ÿ˜‚)  The grey I chose to finish it was from the stash in my craft room. It technically could be considered a scrap it is a loosely wound cake I was given. It was a little darker than I was expecting but I think it will look good together.

I mentioned above I decided to make a different hat for my church lady friend.  I think this looks a little classier, which will fit her much better.

This is the ribbed crochet hat that is my most favorite crochet hat pattern to make. It is a free pattern on Ravelry:  Cables & Stripes Hat . I make mine a little different than the pattern.  I make mine in the round and always make the brim different each time. I like variety.
I am using I Love This Yarn Print “Orange Zest”

My definition of a scrap is anything less than 2 ounces, (which most hats I make use about 2 ounces of yarn) or a skein thats just too floppy that I end up rolling into a ball, or something that has been gifted and already been wound into a ball or cake.

If you are wondering about the tunisian hat mentioned in my previous written post, check out my vlog post. I made more than that one hat last weekend ๐Ÿ˜‚.

I’m Stressing I Started a Couple New Projects

It has been a crazy week. A little stressful. I started a couple new projects.

I grabbed my 10mm tunisian hook and started a hat. It is something I can work on without much thinking. This hat is nearly finished. One like this, without intertuptions, I can whip out in about 2 hours. This is 2 strands #4 worsted yarn held together and tunisian simple stitch in the round.   I made a lot of these the end of last year trying to finish up the 100 hats.  It may be hard to tell but this is a dark royal blue and yellow. Once it is finished I will be back to the scrap bucket for more yarn and start another one.

I also started another loom hat. The previous hat I started, about a month ago, on the KB All in One loom, I frogged. That loom, to me, feels too fragile, especially since it travels with me every day to and from work.   This is going to be another double thick hat. I need to find a complimentary color as this grey should finish or almost finish the first side. I am doing e-wrap with a drawstring cast on.

12 Cast Ons Update

Happy Groundhog Day!  I seen that Phil didn't see his shadow, however here he would have.  We have sunshine and it is to ne near 70 degrees today.  I am not expecting this nice weather to stick around.  I am expecting another cold snap before spring time.

I am glad  you are here.  Thought  I would share a little update on my projects today and how my foot is doing.

First off my foot is doing a lot better.  The past 2 weeks I have only been wearing the boot on weekends when I walk a LOT.  During the week I am fine walking on it since i don't walk as much.  My foot does seem to get tired easy though.

I finished a project this past week.  I finished the loom knit scarf.  I love how it turned out.  I used the full skein of yarn  it's Loops and Threads Fiesta Multi yarn.

this is the stitch pattern I used for the scarf
I am looking forward to starting a new one soon.  I am thinking about using a different stitch pattern.

Here is an update on the second entry for the 12castons2024 hosted by yarnnyarns  this year.  It is the Nottawasaga Buff By Lucille Maierhofe (free ravelry pattern).  I have made good progress since my announcement for this entry. I think I have about 10 rows before starting the decrease.

And an upodate on my first 12castons entry, the tunisian plarn rug/mat.  this weekend I have 4 bags to add.  They are what we used up last weekend.

I am looking forward to adding them to the project.  This is after the bags last weekend.

Teri and Lottie's February Challenge is to Make a throw.  I will not be participating in this challenge.  If you would like information on this challenge you can watch Teri's video https://youtu.be/vBouYYXCAWc?si=E3cc8bfHWanKcpgMhttps://youtu.be/vBouYYXCAWc?si=E3cc8bfHWanKcpgM
